The widespread use and the reliability of diode laser technology, with more than 40 million pieces produced annually which are being used in devices ranging from DVD-players and laser pointers to state of the art dental diode lasers, made us more curious to learn about its potential applications in Endodontics.
Lasers in Endodontics has been studied since the early 1970s. Diode laser for medical use got the FDA approval since 1988 (FDA number 510(K), K882372, for coagulation during ophthalmic surgery). As an endodontic adjunct approved in late 1990s [FDA number 510(K), K990680/1999].
The proposed lecture will discuss briefly how diode laser works and best targeted tissue. A versatile multitude of diode laser in Endodontics will be elaborated on e.g., Endodontic Diagnosis, dentin hypersensitivity, canal disinfection, obturation, endodontic surgery, …etc.
Light will be shed also on the recommended precautions, advantages, and disadvantages.of laser diode.
